It’s that time of year again—Women’s History Month. Last year, we spoke about amazing women in the world, but this year I want to shoutout and thank the badass women I have the honor of working with and learning from every day: Kimberly Tyner, Katie Olivier, Julia Cardali, and Ashley Morales. In my opinion, the backbone of Spire is our awesome squad, and the unique and wonderful individuals who make up the aforementioned dream team.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been fascinated by branding and marketing, and upon graduating college, I realized just how many different types of branding and marketing exist. To be honest, it overwhelmed me, but a very wise person told me that I should take it day by day and be a sponge and soak in as much knowledge as I possibly can.

And lucky for me, Spire is a hub of talented people who have different skillsets and knowledge that I try and take advantage of on the daily. From Kimberly’s passion and creative savvy, Julia’s tenacity and unmatched talent, Katie’s PR genius and her willingness to teach, to Ashley’s spirit and motivation to face each challenge head on, I am surrounded by women who encourage me to keep on growing. And for those reasons, and many more, I wanted to celebrate the four-of-a-kind women of Spire.

So, let’s tune into the female frequency with the newest Spire on Spotify playlist. It’s my special soundtrack celebrating Women’s History Month and my XX-chromosome crew called Vol. 37: B2Bad*ss Women.

What is the name of your album?

Often when people think of B2B, they think “boring.” But here at Spire, we like to say we put the bad*ss in B2B, and the women of Spire reflect that sentiment to a T. So, in honor of the women I work with, the name of my playlist is B2Bad*ss Women.

How would you describe this mix?

This mix is a compilation of some of my favorite songs by women. However, it was important to me to make sure this playlist reflected my phenomenal coworkers’ favorites as well, so I gathered their favorite women-sung hits to make up the playlist. The result? Several beautiful voices and anthems spanning a plethora of genres.

What was the inspiration behind it?

As Ashley stated in her blog post last year, “March has been recognized as Women’s History Month since 1981, celebrating the contributions that women have made to society and various fields of work throughout history.” As a young professional trying to make a name for myself in the industry, it’s very encouraging to see others who have paved the way.

It’s refreshing and empowering to work with such amazing people that make me want to grow. I do not, for one second, take it for granted. And music is something that always brings people together. It’s fun, and listening to songs that mean so much to someone else is like peeling back a layer and taking a sneak peek into someone’s soul. And I enjoyed getting to know the Spire women better and hearing what songs inspire them.

What is your favorite song, and why?

In my year and a half at Spire, I’ve made my love for Whitney Houston very well known. It will come as no surprise to anyone that my favorite song from the playlist is “When You Believe” by Whitney, featuring Mariah Carey. Of course, when you put two powerhouses in one song it’s going to be an automatic hit. Whitney takes the first few verses, and just when you think it can’t get any better Mariah jumps on the track with a, “Oh-oh-oh mmm, yeah.” Gives me goose bumps every time. However, it’s not only their voices that move me, but the meaning behind the song as well.

There can be miracles
When you believe
Though hope is frail, it’s hard to kill
Who knows what miracles you can achieve?
When you believe, somehow you will
You will when you believe.

Words to live by, professionally and personally.

If your playlist was a brand, what would it be and why?

If my playlist was a brand, it would be Kate Hudson’s athleticwear brand, Fabletics. Not only do they offer women fantastic deals on super cute workout attire, but they are also committed to inspiring women to feel like their best selves, no matter their body type, ethnicity, gender, age, and abilities. Like Fabletics, I truly feel that my coworkers inspire me and are helping me become a bad*ss branding savant.

Any specific memory that comes to mind when you listen?

Not one specific memory, more so it just gives me the feeling of joy, because as hard as we work at Spire, we still have fun and laugh with each other. Like turning our windows into mirrors and pretending the office is a dance studio every now and again (most of the time it’s just me who does this) to cracking petty jokes about each other. Every day is unique, and I look forward to going to work and making new memories with great women that I aspire to be like.

What makes your playlist unique?

What makes my playlist unique is that it is a compilation of Spire women’s favorite songs sung by female artists. It’s truly a celebration of women’s history and a way to say thanks to some important women in my life.

Hopefully your head is bopping and your fingers are wagging. Stay tuned to the Spire Blog and Spotify Channel for the release of our next album.
