No lies here, it’s hard to part ways with summer. But a new season brings new beginnings. As we say goodbye to hotter than hot days and let go of the fun-filled craze of summer, let’s embrace fall with smiles and open arms as we say hello to cozy flannels, cute sweaters, pumpkin-spice lattes, and snuggles. If that doesn’t get you excited about fall, then remember those fall seasonal foods like pecan pie—mhmm, mhm.

Fall is a favorite time of year for many, and with good reason. But this season can also bring a mix of emotions with it. It’s easy to think about summer’s warmth and sunny days as rainier days set in, and those days become shorter and a bit darker. And there’s a sense of sadness as leaves let go and fall to the ground.

But hey, it’s nothing a backyard fire, a comfy Snuggie, honeycrisp apples, or cinnamon candles can’t solve. Fall officially falls on Thursday, September 22 at 8:03 PM here in Texas. So, let’s take a listen to our newest Spire on Spotify playlist—some autumn audio from Account Executive Caitlyn Pobee that will put a little “cool” in your cooler nights.

What is the name of your album?

My playlist is “Vol. 29: Fall Feels.” This playlist is a mix of chill, melancholy songs to accompany the chilly weather.

How would you describe this mix?

Chill and calm vibes. As fall is the season that transitions us from summer to winter, trees and plants lose their leaves, animals prepare for the long months ahead, and as humans, we start to reflect on the year thus far and start preparing for the holiday madness that soon will come.

What was the inspiration behind it?

Sometimes you just want to listen to a sad song that makes you reflect on certain times in your life, a playlist that makes you feel like getting under a blanket with a pumpkin-spice latte and a good book. Something you can listen to when you want to shut out the noisy world and just tune into yourself.

What is your favorite song, and why?

“For my Hand” by Burna Boy. Burna Boy is my all-time favorite artist, and this song from his latest album is one of the first times he’s singing about himself and his experiences in such a personal way. It’s a tune in which he just bares his soul and sings his truth about his past relationship. Just a relatable song that makes me sad and happy at the same time.

If your playlist was a brand, what would it be and why?

If my playlist was a brand, it would be White Barn Candle Company. Candles are the cornerstone of fall, and White Barn has the best candles. From the design and packaging of the candles to the best apple cinnamon-y, vanilla-y, and pumpkin spicy smells. My heart smiles every time I light a White Barn candle.

Any specific memory that comes to mind when you listen?

Our friends host a lake weekend every year at Cypress Springs Lake. Everyone packs up their kiddos and heads to the waterfront (roughly eight adults and 14 teenagers). The kids get to play with all the water toys, like jet skis, and spend time tubing, wakeboarding, floating, etc. But the best part is toward the later part of the afternoon when the adults get to sneak away and head to the marina for some food and drinks. We take a dip in the water and have our playlist blaring.

What makes your playlist unique?

It’s a diverse playlist that will keep you guessing as to which song is coming next. When you’re at the lake it’s impossible to get bored with a bad-ass playlist.

Thanks for your pontoon-inspired playlist, Angie. While Texas lakes may be low this summer, your tunes will definitely buoy any lake trip. Stay tuned to the Spire Blog and Spotify Channel for the release of our next chill playlist.

Any specific memory that comes to mind when you listen?

Going to college and living in the Northeast. Nothing beats a Northeast fall. Whenever I close my eyes, I can see it like it was yesterday: leaves of so many different, beautiful colors—ones I never imagined possible, and certainly colors I don’t see in Texas. My friends and I would make a day of pumpkin picking, drinking apple cider, and eating warm apple-cider donuts fresh off the conveyor, then returning to our dorms to paint our pumpkins. The best part? Laughing or crying the whole day with lifelong friends that I loved.

What makes your playlist unique?

It’s a playlist that captures the essence of fall: beautiful songs that make you want to cry for some unexplainable reason.

We’re really warming up to your playlist, Caitlyn. It’s as cool as an iced pumpkin-spice latte. Stay tuned to the Spire Blog and Spotify Channel for the fall of our next playlist.
