For anyone who uses music as a motivator, this playlist is your perfect summer backdrop. It’s upbeat enough to keep you moving but chill enough to keep playing when you want to relax after the task is done.

Lock in (or chill out) to our newest Spire on Spotify playlist: Vol. 55: Upbeats.

Lexi, what is the name of your album?

I named my playlist Upbeats, since a good beat was the main criteria for a song to make the cut. I wanted a seamless masterpiece of back-to-back tracks that you could bump anytime, anywhere.

How would you describe this mix?

This is a mix of my personal summer favorites, blended with a few deep cuts to keep up the vibes. I’ve been playing it nonstop since I finished it. Give it a try on long car rides, while knocking out chores, or during a fun night with friends. You’ll be bobbing your head in no time.

What is your favorite song, and why?

Right now, it’s “Sight for Sore Eyes” by Knox Hamilton. It’s an instant indie-pop hit with catchy riffs, infectious rhythm, and the perfect feel to fit the playlist. Every time it comes on in the car, I roll down the windows and sing along.

If your playlist was a brand, what would it be and why?

To me, this playlist is like a bunch of Post-it® notes. Each song is a snippet of time connected to big ideas, good feelings, and fun memories. Together, they help form a timeline to keep a beat on the moments that move you forward. I hope the songs in this playlist stick to those good moments in your life, too, and help you remember them forever.

Any specific memory that comes to mind when you listen?

This playlist evokes the feeling of a summer road trip with a friend, when you have a long way to go, but don’t need to be there by a certain time. You have a specific route to follow, but it feels free at the same time. I drove with a friend to San Diego and back from Dallas a few years ago and this playlist would have been perfect for that trip.

What makes your playlist unique?

Music is my motivator and my way to unwind. It has always had a positive influence on my life, no matter the time, place, or state of mind. I hope my playlist reflects how life should be—upbeat, breezy, and full of good times.
