Halloween has passed, leaves are falling, temperatures are getting cooler, and the air still smells like pumpkin spice everything! It must be November.

November, also known as the month in between Halloween and New Year’s, is a month that often gets overlooked, especially musically, by the queued-too-early Christmas classics. So, this year, hang up the costumes and hold off on decking the halls; let’s slow down and enjoy the goodness that November has to offer.

Looking to relish every second of a month that is usually skipped? Then turn up the tunes on our newest Spire on Spotify playlist from Account Supervisor Julia Cardali called Vol. 32: No- Skip November.

Julia, what is the name of your album?

I’m calling Spire’s newest playlist No-Skip November. It’s a compilation of songs that include “November” in the name … seriously.

How would you describe this mix?

No-Skip November is an eclectic playlist that is an ode to the month it’s named after. It’s the perfect playlist for chilling under a blanket on a rainy day, baking all the cinnamon things, and driving among the fall foliage on a brisk autumn day.

What was the inspiration behind it?

The inspiration behind my playlist is November. With Halloween kicking off the holiday season in October, then Christmas, Hannukah, and New Year’s finishing it off, November tends to be a bit of a forgotten month. And while there are several spooky Halloween songs and classic Christmas songs full of yuletide cheer, there aren’t many well-known songs about Thanksgiving and November. It was my goal to find the tunes this thankful month deserves.

What is your favorite song, and why?

My favorite song on this playlist is “November Air” by Zach Bryan. It’s a slow-paced, emotional, pretty song that I hadn’t heard before curating this playlist, but I’m glad that I found it. Also, Zach Bryan’s voice sounds similar to Tyler Childers, who I love.

If your playlist was a brand, what would it be and why?

If my playlist was a brand, it would be Society by Jackson Vaughn, which is a local candle shop located in Bishop Arts (an artsy, up-and-coming neighborhood where I used to live). When I think of November, I think of various smells (pumpkin, cinnamon, rustic wood, vanilla bean, etc.) and warmth (aroma + warmth = candles). The shop itself smells delicious and gives off an eclectic yet sophisticated vibe.

Any specific memory that comes to mind when you listen?

No specific memory comes to mind when listening to this mostly unfamiliar playlist, but a specific feeling does. November is a good month to slow down and be intentional. It’s smack-dab in the middle of the holiday season and ends with Thanksgiving—an entire day dedicated to being thankful and intentional.

What makes your playlist unique?

This playlist is incredibly unique because every song is solely based on its name, including the word “November.” Consequentially, this playlist includes many different genres, songs that I had never heard before but ultimately really enjoyed. There’s truly something for everyone around the Thanksgiving table to enjoy.

Thanks, Julia. We’re now officially ready for November with this chill playlist. Stay tuned to the Spire Blog and Spire’s Spotify Channel for the release of our next playlist.
