In December, Spire began working with Morris & Dickson, the fourth-largest full-line pharmaceutical distributor in the United States. The family-owned company began in a Shreveport riverfront warehouse in 1841.

Today, Morris & Dickson is a $4 billion company with over 30,000 SKUs delivered from a 12-acre, state-of-the-art distribution center. Morris & Dickson’s stellar reputation is built on next-day delivery of pharmaceuticals and related healthcare products to independent pharmacies, health systems, and alternative care facilities across 19 states and counting.

The COVID-19 pandemic has only intensified our consciousness around health and well-being. We rely on doctors, nurses, and hometown pharmacists to keep us happy and healthy, inside and out, through their knowledge and skill of modern medicine.

That’s why our Associate Creative Director Jason James offers a spoonful of Spotify to make the medicine go down with our newest Spire on Spotify Playlist, Vol. 24: Health Flair. It’s inspired by our clients at Morris & Dickson. So, take two tunes and call us in the morning.

Jason, what is the name of your album?

My new playlist is called Health Flair. It’s a healthy dose of good vibes that remind me of the good people at M&D.

How would you describe this mix?

The Health Flair playlist sets out to make people feel healthy and alive. Carpe diem, as they say. It is upbeat and inspirational, exploring many different genres but with a focus on songs that are sure to put you in a good mood and put your body and mind at ease.

What was the inspiration behind it?

Morris & Dickson have provided pharmaceutical products and healthcare products since 1841. Let that sink in. They’ve been focused on healthcare services literally since before the Industrial Revolution. We wanted to celebrate this longstanding dedication to peoples’ health with this playlist. Give it a listen. You’ll feel healthier in no time.

What is your favorite song, and why?

“That’s Life” by Frank Sinatra. I love the never-give-up attitude of this song. We all want to not just live, but to thrive. This song speaks directly to that ethos. You can’t thrive without looking after your physical and mental health. So M&D has helped many among us with this.

If your playlist was a brand, what would it be and why?

LEGO. The tagline for this brand is “Play On.” Good health is all about being active and taking care of your body. You can’t seize the day while in poor health. Get your yearly checkups.

Any specific memory that comes to mind when you listen?

Summer camp. These camps usually revolved around plenty of exercise, fresh air, good food, and if you got poison ivy, the staff would have plenty of calamine lotion to fix you right up.

What makes your playlist unique?

Healthcare tends to deal with sickness and ailment, whereas this playlist is more a celebration of life and health.

Thanks, Jason. Your prescriptive playlist definitely gives us a healthy outlook. Stay tuned to the Spire Blog and Spotify Channel for the release of our next album.
