As the lights turned off in 2021, Spire glowingly announced the addition of its newest client - The Solar Company. The Texas-based commercial solar installer will open for business in early 2022, and Spire is excited to bring this growing renewable energy option to business in The Lone Star State and beyond. Likewise, Account Supervisor Angie Vasquez is excited to shine on a light on them in our newest Spire on Spotify playlist, Vol. 18: Here Comes the Sun.

The Solar Company launched in 2021 and is bringing the savings and sustainability of solar energy to commercial properties and businesses. Seen as one of the top solar providers in Texas, the company designs, constructs, and maintains commercial solar systems, helping businesses reap the environmental and financial rewards of alternative energy.

The solar industry had another record year in 2021 despite the ongoing pandemic. The industry is on track to exceed 20 gigawatts, setting another annual record over the 19.2 gigawatts installed in 2020.

Solar power is more affordable, accessible and prevalent in the United States than ever before. Today, over 3% of US electricity comes from solar energy and concentrating solar-thermal power. US solar power capacity has grown to an estimated 97.2 gigawatts (GW) from an estimated 0.34 GW in 2008.

The average cost of solar PV panels has dropped nearly 70%. Markets for solar energy are maturing rapidly around the country since solar electricity is now economically competitive with conventional energy sources in most states. California, Texas and Florida were the top three states for annual solar additions.

The solar industry has also been a source of job growth for the nation. There are approximately 12 million renewable energy jobs world-wide and solar made up about one-third of the market. American solar jobs rose to 231,000 since 2020.

Solar energy hasn’t yet reached its full potential as a clean energy source for the US and by 2050, the White House is calling for solar energy to power nearly half of the electricity grid.

Now that we’re familiar with renewable energy, let’s move and groove to a little rejuvenating energy in the form of music. Let’s talk to Account Supervisor Angie Vasquez about her heart-warming new Spire on Spotify playlist, Vol. 18: Here Comes the Sun.

Angie, what is the name of your album?

The title of Spire’s newest playlist is titled Here Comes the Sun. Spire is excited to work with The Solar Company. They are helping businesses make smart solar investments and we are happy to shine a light on the business and environmental advantages of solar.

How would you describe this mix?

I would say this is an energizing mix, with each track paying respect to all things solar, with the sun being the main star of course. It’s a blended playlist of pop, rock, blues, country and indie songs that are designed to energize you.

What was the inspiration behind it?

The sun has been a source of light and energy within all cultures throughout time. It gives us life, provides us with warmth and now provides us with a renewable energy source to power our lives. The Solar Company is all about helping customers generate powerful savings with solar. I wanted to capture that ideal with this mix.

What is your favorite song, and why?

There are a lot of great songs on this playlist, but my favorite would have to be “Can’t Stop the Feeling” by Justin Timberlake. When I hear the beginning of this song and the lyrics “I got that sunshine in my pocket, got that good soul in my feet” it makes me want to get up and start dancing. It’s an upbeat song that makes people happy.

If your playlist was a brand, what would it be and why?

If my playlist was a brand, it would be Supergoop. They have a singular focus, which is providing high-quality sun protection products. They do one thing and they do it well, much like The Solar Company. The Solar Company helps people protect their business against the high cost of energy bills by switching to solar.

Any specific memory that comes to mind when you listen?

This curated collection reminds me of hanging out by the pool with friends. It’s one of my favorite things to do during the summer. Fun times, with a cool and upbeat playlist.

What makes your playlist unique?

It’s rare to find so many tracks that map directly to your playlist inspiration as this one does. So, it really made it harder to pick just the right songs with so many great options that tie in with the story about the sun. I think that makes this playlist unique and fun to listen to. Enjoy!

Thanks, Angie. With colder temperatures here for the winter, it’s nice to get a glimmer of sun with your newest playlist. Stay tuned to the Spire Blog and Spotify Channel for the release of our hot, new album.
