State Bank of Texas® (SBT) opened for business on Black Monday, the day the stock market crashed on October 19, 1987. Overcoming those odds, SBT has become America’s leading hospitality lender and one of the nation’s most successful community banks.

In celebration of its 36th anniversary, and coinciding with their move into their new corporate headquarters in Las Colinas, SBT has unveiled new corporate branding developed by Spire. The Dallas B2B agency won the bank’s business back in September 2021 following a multi-agency review.

State Bank of Texas was founded in 1987 by hotelier Chan Patel and continues to be owned and operated by the Patel family, with Chan Patel (father) serving as CEO, Sushil Patel (son) as President, and Rajan Patel (son) as Chief Lending Officer and EVP. As the largest Indian-American-owned bank in the U.S., the bank focuses on lending to the hospitality industry for the purchasing and enhancements of hotels, motels and real estate.

Early this year, SBT was named the number-one, top-performing community bank with more than $1 billion in assets as ranked by the Independent Community Bankers of America® for 2023. SBT also consistently ranks at or near the top of the nation’s community banks for metrics such as Return on Average Assets (ROA) and Efficiency Ratio for banks in its asset size category.

“SBT is incredibly excited about our new company branding,” said President Sushil Patel. “As we usher in a new generation of leadership at SBT, our new look reflects the enhanced offerings we bring to today’s lending and deposit customers.”

Spire’s work for SBT has included messaging and positioning, logo, brand identity, sales materials, employee communications, website, social media, and many other communications as the company expands its footprint. SBT’s new logo and a modernized website reflect their commitment to the hotelier community, business community, and their local community. The website also has secure functionality to allow customers to open accounts, make payments, and safely manage their finances. It also features the bank’s current Certificate of Deposit and Money Market rates, as well as current openings for employment.

“It has been an honor telling the story of the Patel family in today’s hospitality banking marketplace,” says Mike Stopper, Principal and EVP of Client Services and Planning. “The new branding modernizes their brand and establishes SBT as a national player in community banking.”

SBT’s new headquarters is located in the Las Colinas Urban Center at the northeast corner of O’Connor Boulevard and West John Carpenter Freeway. The 48,000-square-foot building is four stories tall, with the top two floors housing SBT’s operations. A SBT bank branch will be housed in the lobby, with exterior parking and an underground parking garage. The first and second floors being available for tenant lease.

Spire was founded in 2005 and today is one of the country’s most-awarded B2B agencies. In addition to SBT, notable clients include Mouser ElectronicsTrinityRailMorris & Dickson, Tyler Technologies, Howard Hughes Corporation, among others.
