The 62nd Annual AAF Dallas ADDYs recently took place at On The Levee in Dallas on Leap Day, Thursday, February 29th. Dallas is a Top 10 advertising market nationwide, and this show is the local industry’s biggest night.

Spire was one of the most-awarded agencies at the gala, securing seven impressive ADDYs. Of the seven, Spire was awarded with two Gold, three Silver, and two Honorable Mention Awards.

The American Advertising Awards, or “The ADDYs,” are the largest advertising awards in the United States that celebrate creativity and excellence in advertising. A jury of advertising peers from around the nation judged the local competition, determining who received the honor of Gold and Silver ADDYs and the new, local-only Honorable Mention Awards.

Spire’s work for the J.E. and L.E. Mabee Foundation had a very successful night, garnering three awards. The winning work was for a coffee table book that was written, designed, and produced by Spire. This special piece was commissioned to celebrate the 75thanniversary of The Mabee Foundation, capturing the rags-to-riches early life story of John and Lottie Mabee through the creation of their philanthropic organization. The entire book was awarded a Gold for Book Design and a Gold for the custom, single-line drawings throughout the book as a Series of Illustrations entry. Furthermore, a commemorative 75th anniversary logo designed by Spire won a Silver award for Logo Design.

Another big winner of the night was Spire’s work for the Austin law firm, Slack Davis Sanger, with two awards. The work was for their annual Oktoberfest event, which was combined with a 30-year anniversary celebration. The clever event illustrations, all combining aspects of Oktoberfest with practicing law, garnered a Silver for a Series of Illustrations. Postcard invitations designed for the event was awarded Honorable Mention for an Invitation Campaign.

Additionally, Spire won big for a few of its own projects. First, a brochure designed to introduce a new set of guiding principles into the company culture was awarded Silver in the Brand Elements category. Second, the “Spreading the Warm Fuzzies” 2023 holiday card and donation initiative was awarded Honorable Mention in Special Event Materials.

“This year’s ADDYs gala was a great night for our team and our clients,” said Associate Creative Director Jason James. “There is some serious competition here in Dallas and we are so proud to be among the top agencies.”

AAF Dallas was founded in 1908 and is the local chapter of the American Advertising Federation—the “unifying voice” of the 40,000 professionals in our nation’s advertising industry. The Dallas ADDYs are the first step in a three-tiered competition that culminates into the national American Advertising Awards this summer. It is our industry’s largest creative competition with over 35,000 professional and student entries each year.
